I did this collage of Merchant City during a summer course in illustration at the Glasgow School of Art. The course was run by Cathy Campbell who really encouraged me to draw my interpretation of things to help develop my own individual style.

I sketched out this section of Merchant City then collected material scraps on the way back to the art school.

I used everything from an umbrella cover to brochures to flowers to collage it. I also used various mediums such as oil pastel, chalk pastel, paint and pencil.
